Breakfast at work ♥
Came to work today and one of my buddy in the kitchen who had responsibility for today's breakfast/lunch, asked if I have eaten.
As always, nope, haven't had the time for it, since I came straight from school. Then he commanded me "sit" and next I knew he brought me breakfast ♥

Hunters Stew
Today we tried hunter stew from Toro (a company that creates ready meals).
Toro hunters stew can be served with all kinds of meat, but tastes especially good with venison.
The preparation was easy:
- Cut 500-600 g meat and brown it in the frying pan.
- Empty bag contents into a saucepan. Add 2 cups sour cream / crème fraîche and 6 ml of water.
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly and cook for 10 minutes. Add the meat at the end of the cooking time.
- Serve with baked potatoes, mashed potatoes or rice.

As usual, we are quite careful with the economy,

Again at Fuji Restaurant
It's time for dinner, and we decide to come again at Fuji Restaurant. Usually, we don't visit the same restaurant twice so we can always explore new ones during the trip. However, after our breakfast here we wanted to try more from this restaurant.
So far, this restaurant is the best one! Good food and service, a well working air condition, and the food here is worth every single Thai baht! If you like Japanese cuisine, this is a recommended place to go to!
Like the first visit, we can choice to either order individual dishes or in sets/combination. The sets/combination give you a main dish, side dish and an accessory, some of them even gives you a free drink (coffee, tea or juice/shake), but since it's dinner time now, we don't get the free drink.
This time we choose 1 single dish, 1 side dish, The bunashimeji mushroom and 2 sets combination for sharing. Me and my mum wanted to eat sashimi.
The Sasimi Ship contain inter alia: salmon, tuna, squid/octopus, crab stick (?) and mackerel. And I have to say, the meat was SO fresh that you could taste the sweetness of it <3 Each chew the meat bounces inside my mouth.
So far, this restaurant is the best one! Good food and service, a well working air condition, and the food here is worth every single Thai baht! If you like Japanese cuisine, this is a recommended place to go to!

Fuji Restaurant at Jungceylon
Breakfast at Fuji Restaurant, a sushi restaurant at Jungceylon mall, and so far, this is the best restaurant we have been to! The food here is good and surprising cheap, and the air conditioning is not just for decoration. You are actually cooled, so you can eat hot food without sweat yourself to death.
The menu is well made, each dishes is explained in detail and with pictures, so you know exactly what you have ordered. The menu gives you the choice to either order individual dishes or in sets/combination.
When ordering sets/combination, you get a main dish, side dish and an accessory, some of them even gives you a free drink (coffee, tea or juice/shake), depends on what time you arrive at. The sets / combination may look like small portions, but you will be feeling full. We order 3 sets/combination for sharing, so that we can try as much as possible.
The Bento contain assorted tempura, chicken teriyaki, and sushi (salmon and tuna). The fish used for sushi and sashimi is fresh and properly prepared.

Royal Kitchen at The Royal Paradise Hotel & Spa
My mom's friend who has been our guide in this trip, took us to a well known restaurant in Patong, The Royal Kitchen, which are located in The Royal Parradise Hotel & Spa.
This restaurant serve traditional Cantonese cuisine, where their two signature dishes are Peking Duck and Roast Succulent Pig. The restaurant is located on the 25th floor of Paradise wing, which makes it the island's tallest hotel tower, and with a 180 degree views it's gives of a romantic and calming view across the bay. It's indeed a perfect places for fireworks view in New Years.
However, it's reputations for good food, ends with a huge disappointment for me. With all the praise the restaurant got on our way there, gave us an expectation that didn't hold. They had the appearance for a 5 stars restaurant but with a serving for a bad common restaurant. Perhaps we was unlucky with the timing, that it's not tourist season, but that is no excuse for a restaurant to do a bad work. If you are open, then you should keep up your standard.
Anyways, this was our food experience at Royal Kitchen, it started at the entrance with bad service, no waitress and people who worked there, gave no intention of leading us to a tables, despite the fact that we had booked. When we got a table, we didn't get the menu before 8 minutes later.
We ordered 6 different dishes for sharing, one of them is my favorite dish, Pineapple fried rice, and to my surprise I found ants crawling with the rice... OK, maybe they was unlucky with the pineapple, sometimes it's difficult to see or get rid of all dirt on it's surface or between the leaves. Anyways, got rid of the ants and started on the dish. There was almost no shrimp in it, or the main ingredients, the pineapple meats. In fact, it's was simply lack of the most ingredients , except for rice. Fucking A....
We also ordered Thick stir fried noodles, another favorite of mine, the dish tasted burnt, it was literally burnt. They even tried to cover it up by putting all the burned on the bottom. The whole dish tasted like coal...
The other dishes were OK, but poor in taste, almost no seasoning, but comparison they was much better than the Pineapple fried rice and Thick stir fried noodles.

MK Gold Restaurant at Jungceylon
Today we spent all day in the mall Jungceylon, where my mum and her friend went all crazy on the stores. Jungceylon is the biggest shopping center in Patong, here you can find everything you can think of with a European price, but maybe with some bargain you may get it cheaper or if you are a good hunter and can find the jackpot in the stores.
Jungceylon has many stores as it has restaurants. Honestly, it's the perfect place for both shopping and dining enthusiasts. They have serving for Thai, European, Korean, Japanese and Chinese cuisine. And every serving places have it charms that make it's almost impossible to decide where you want to go first.
After much back and forth, we came to an agreement. Today's dinner will be Chinese cuisine.

They have serving for Thai, European, Korean, Japanese and Chinese cuisine. And every serving places have it charms that make it's almost impossible to decide where you want to go first.

Prince Restaurant (王子饭店)
Once again we are at Prince Restaurant, but this time with a different menu than last time, and it's a gift to Esta, my mom's childhood friend. Since we got to stay at her place for free, we wanted to thank her with a fancier dinner.
However, compared to last visit, this menu was kind of dull in comparing, it didn't give a special food experience. Don't misunderstand, the food was good, but not satisfying. I was expending more or something similar to the first time.
This time many of the dishes had poor/faint seasoning, some meat was chewy because of overcooking, and everything of service and serving took a very long time, we even got served wrong dishes. Because of this experience, I feel that the restaurant's standard goes a bit down when there is a lot of people to serve.
This time the salmon tasted more like those from Norway.
They did a better job this time. Maybe the fish was more oily.
Still a little hint of sweet aftertaste, the vegetables were fresh,
tomato sweet, match well with the aftertaste.
They used some kind of vinegar that spices the vegetables and gave it a sweet aroma.
The taste was OK, the lobster was fresh and the sauce was not to strong, so you was able to taste the natural of the lobster sweat meat. However they have overcooked the noodles - maybe they were too busy in the kitchen.

This is how you "set-it-up":
1. You add the vegetables around the middle of the pancake (in this case, cucumber and onion).
2. Add some hoisin sauce or sweet bean sauce 3. Add duck meat on top. 4. Fold and eat <3

Prince Restaurant (王子饭店)
Because I have completed my BA, we wanted a small celebration, so before the trip we had already made a reservations at Prince Restaurant (王子饭店), where we had a 9 course dinner. Fancy place with fancy food to a fair price.
This dish was nothing like the "Norway-way" of smoked salmon.
The meat was fresh, but maybe the fish wasn't oily enough.
The smoked salmon I am used to have a hint of smoked and it's salt,
and yet you can taste the natural flavor.
This one was sweet, maybe too sweet after my taste.
However it's was very good, you got a little hint of salmon aftertaste,
the vegetables were fresh, tomato sweet that match well with the aftertaste. And they used some kind of vinegar that spices the vegetables - gave it a sweet aroma, maybe too sweet.
This dish was special!
It's was so simple and yet nothing I have tasted before.
White fish, lightly fried, with a sweet orange sauce.
Powerful taste.

The menu on board
Soon after departing from Amsterdam and the seat light got turned off, we got served dinner. You could choice between Chinese or Pasta.
Without any hesitation I chose Chinese meal, and it tasted ....good?! To my surprise. I am no doubt picky on my food, and airplane food have NEVER Ever been something I have been looking forward to eat, and as long I can remember, I have hated it since I was a brat.
But for the first time in my life, I got a WOW moment. After the realization I was suddenly famished, and as the Lady I am not, I bucket in everything on my "plate" which consisted of three course dinner, Peking duck and pancakes, Yu Xiang chicken with broccoli and rice, and Framboisier (raspberry pâtisserie).
I am now looking forward to our next meal, breakfast <3

Vertshuset

Vertshuset is a little tucked away local restaurant in Molde, Norway. Due to location, it may be a little difficult for visitors to find the entrance into the restaurant. Many will think that it is a part of the hotel or a pub.
However, if you find your way in, you will find the restaurant decorated like a Norwegian tavern style with antiques and massive timber and beams ceiling, which gives a cozy look. With the way they dim the lights and candles everywhere, it kind of remind you of a hut back in the days.
Their are known for their fish soup appetizer, reindeer tenderloin, monkfish, beef, (salt) cod, marinated salmon (who is the chef's specialty) and generous portions of the dishes.
At the start, the service we got was so-so. We met two waitress at the entrance, where none of them welcomed us or gave no sign to show us to the table. As far we could see, they just stood there and did nothing than shit-chatting with each other.
Usually, when you arrive at a restaurant you wait for a waiter to direct you to your table, however, this restaurant is quite common so it is not unusual that people/local help themselves and just take a place. Unsure what to do, wait or help our self, we ended up waiting at the entrance. 2-3 minutes later we asked if it's OK to just take a place.
After we found us a table, there was suddenly a third waitress who come flying with a big smile, welcomed us and gave us our menus. Those two other had disappeared somewhere and no where to be seem.
Since they are well know for their fish soup, I took my chance on it for the appetizer, and for the main course, entrecôte with fried potatoes.
We didn't wait long before the appetizer was served with bread and butter. The soup was tasteful and rich with content, larges pieces of fish meat, and creamy. Little to salty for my own taste, but all in all, very good.
The entrecôte was cheap, 139 NOK and was super tender. I'm a meat lover, and therefore some find me picky/demanding when it comes to meat. But I can't any negative about this meat of mine. It's perfect medium roasted, and the vegetables were fresh and sweet, the Bearnaise sauce was a dance in my mouth and no scorched potatoes. And for that kind of price, I have nothing to complain about.
I will definitely come back again for this main course, but with a different appetizer.
